After I applied all I listed, the next bill that came was 60euros less!
WATER: This should also be used with care. Like I earlier on mentioned, do not spend too much time in the shower. If you're doing the dishes in the sink, washing your hands, giving your kids a bath, brushing your teeth; always remember what"Barney Says"- never let the water run. Also watch out for your kids going to turn on the tap and leaving it running like my son does. The water counter won't read what you're not using, so take care to pay just what you're sure using.

Question
Hi Oby,
My son is almost 3yrs old and my daughter is 1yr. I have been following your write-ups and am learning alot from it. My son hates milk with a passion while my daughter can't do without it, she doesn't even eat any other food except milk and i've tried buying her canned foods and preparing her her meals myself, but no way... as for my son, he has eating problems but since he started school, he is improving. After reading your your write-up yesterday i tried making his meal colourful and he was excited when he saw it. So pls can u tell me how to teach my son how to drink milk and how to introduce other foods to my daughter. Thanks.
Belgium.
Answer
Two extremes we have here. it's quite impressive to know that your son's feeding habits are improving, great! The aspect of milk drinking is not strange at all. Some kids don't like milk for reasons best known to them but it shouldn't be a big thing to worry about. You can substitute milk with yogurt, cheese, whipped cream etc. These are diary products that can serve in place of milk thereby giving him same nutrients. If he eats any of these, then you've got half of the problem solved. Buy him different flavoured yoghurts and take note his favourite. For his afternoon snack, you can feed him cookies with a spread of cheese(my kids love fresh cheese) and some fruit juice. With fruits like strawberries, peaches, raspberries, mangoes; make a cup of fruit salad or single fruit, whisk some cream and topple over fruit. Kids love berries so why not make the most of it! By making his milk in varieties, he can also start having fun drinking milk. Try this!(1) Warm up a cup of milk, pour out a quater of the milk. In the remaining milk, mix in some drinking chocolate powder. Take the quater of milk you set aside and froth. Swirl the froth right over the hot chocolate and serve him. (2) In a blender, wash and pop in 1 strawberry fruit. Add a tsp. of sugar, add a little bit of his milk and blend. Blend into a fine puree and add the rest of his milk. Serve him the pinky milk and watch his reaction. You never know but with the pinky colour, he might go right for it and drink it all. You may also put in a straw in the cup and make him feel like he's drinking a cocktail(hahahaha...).
Shapes
To make foods more appealing to your kids, make shapes out of their food. Buy metal shapeners for cookies and have fun. Make their food an art and have them join in, it's so much fun for everyone. Fruits like watermelon, banana, pineapple and even pear are perfect for this. You can also boil some potaoes with the skin, don't over cook! Once soft enough to be eaten, make out your shape.
Try your hands on a couple of things and explore.
For your little girl also, if she likes just milk, it's not bad at all. Milk is very rich in calcium which she needs for strong bones and teeth. It also contains some form of protein, Vit.E, omega 3 essential fatty acids and some other important minerals. For her, you too can start with fruits in a bowl and pouring her milk over it. Get her attention and make her watch you pouring the milk over so she'll see it's actually milk. Feed her the milk and fruit, you might get a positive result. Also when it's meal time and you dish the food, eat with them and sometimes act like they're not there. When they see you eat, they'll want to eat too because 'if mummy eats it, it might really taste good'. Try some of the tips I gave for your son on your daughter also but most importantly, give them time. Try out things bit by bit and in no time I believe they will come around.
