Kids and food contd.

After reading the last article a friend asked my point of view on breastfeeding and that i will treat before going on to the other topics in the previous article.

Breastfeeding

The first time you hold your newborn in the delivery room, put his lips to your breast. That's where and when the bonding starts. Though your mature milk hasn't come in yet, but your breast are producing a substance called colostrum(a rich milk that contains antibodies and good bacteria)that will protect your baby from infection. It's always normal and expected if your newborn seems to be having trouble finding the breast and latching on. Try to stay calm, it's all part of the learning process both for the mum and the baby. They are both beginning to learn one another. I felt the same way when i had my first baby but after speaking with a breastfeeding expert, it saved me all the trouble. It was alot easier with the second baby because it wasn't anything new. Nursing requires patience and practice. Sometimes, mothers feel like they can't do it but with time, they're pros and start assisting other young mothers too. I gave it the formula

Nursing= P+P(Patience+Practice)

It has always been proved by healthcare givers that breastfeeding is always the best for any baby with it's numerous advantages both for the mother and the baby. The size of the breasts isn't a hinderance at all in breastfeeding because nature made it in way that all babies feed well from their mother no mater how big or how small the breasts are. But to read up more about this topic, you can visit some other websites like http://www.babyzone.com/ and other baby websites that talk more about this.
Enjoy!

Colostrum
Although it may take some time for some mother's to have their mature milk come into the breasts, there is an amazing 'first milk' that typically supplies everything your baby needs during the first few days of baby's life. Colostrum is this incredible milk and is often referred to as 'liquid gold' due to it's tremendous health benefits to babies.
In the absence of breastmilk, a baby can be fed infant formula richly fortified to substitute when there is no other way to feed the baby(ask doctor's recommendation). Infant formula is an expensive imitation of breastmilk and has been accepted as the 'runner-up' to breastmilk, in other words,some infant formula are rich enough to keep a baby from infections too. But if a mother can breastfeed her baby, giving him all the nutrients naturally, why hold back?!
Enjoy!
